Hamro Teej 2024

Teej is one of Nepal’s most important and vibrant cultural festivals, celebrated primarily by women with great devotion and enthusiasm. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the festival commemorates Goddess Parvati’s unwavering dedication and penance to attain Lord Shiva as her husband. Women observe fasting, offer prayers, wear traditional red attire, and gather to sing and dance in celebration of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.

The purpose of Teej is to promote spiritual devotion, family well-being, and marital harmony. Married women pray for the health, happiness, and long life of their husbands and families, while unmarried women seek blessings for a good life partner and a prosperous future. Beyond its religious significance, Teej serves as a celebration of womanhood, unity, and community, providing an opportunity for women to come together, strengthen social bonds, share experiences, and preserve Nepal’s treasured cultural traditions through music, dance, and festive gatherings.
